Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT combines eastern philosophy with western psychology. You’ll have more contact with me than in traditional therapy. It’s made up of one therapy session where we talk about your week by going over your diary card – what went well, what sucked, and in general what you need to get off your chest.

The diary card is a piece of paper or App you will use to easily and quickly track your feelings and behaviors through the week. Most people will fill it out before they go to bed each night, and it generally takes about one minute to complete.

Then you’ll meet with me for a skills session.

This might be a group or an individual session, depending on your needs and space available in the group. The skills session is a time for you to learn new coping skills, new ways of viewing the world and the people in it.

One of THE MOST amazing things about this service is that you get phone coaching through the week. This means that when shit hits the fan, you can call. We can talk about what you can do to get you through the rough patch. We can talk all about phone coaching when we meet.

And this is why DBT works! It’s designed to help people to not only learn the skills (anyone can read a book), but how to apply them in difficult times.
